  • This is White Mountain.  White Mountain stands on the east side of Owens Valley, facing the Sierra Nevada range to the west and   Nevada to the East.  It stands at 14,252 feet high making it the third highest mountain in California.  It's clearly not white!  The red/black colors come from ore and Mesozoic metavolcanic rock.

  • While hiking the truck road to the summit, we found ourselves surrounded by a heard of Nelson Big Horn sheep.  It was an amazing experience.  We asked the hiker before us and the hikers after us and no one else saw them.  You know that saying about time and place...
