Bison Fields

These vast, wide-open plains filled with wild Bison epitomized the wild west!

Black Pool

The West Thumb Geyser Basin is a beautiful area to take a walk. Much of the "trail" is on planked boardwalks and some of it gets very close to Yellowstone Lake. Overall, a beautiful place!

Silex Springs

Found on the Fountain Paint Pots trail, Silex Springs is a stunning blue color. We visited in Winter (think 25ºF) so everything was mostly covered with steam.

Fountain Paint Pot trail

While walking the Fountain Paint Pot Trail, we had the unique pleasure of seeing the Fountain Geyser erupt. Our guide, an Interpretive National Park Ranger in the Summer, has been in the park more than five years and only witnessed such an eruption less than a handful of times.

Grand Prismatic Spring and Fairy Falls

When you hike the back side of the Grand Prismatic Spring, you can keep hiking to Fairy Falls. It's a beautiful hike and the falls are quite nice.

Yellowstone Lake and Big Cone

Swimming is not recommended in Yellowstone Lake. The primary reason is the temperature (it's cold!) and then there are the geothermal pots that boil up on the shore and actually in the water!

Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River is truly amazing to see. We were lucky enough to see them both in Winter and early Summer. In the summer, you can walk down a steep path, with many wooden steps to a wonder view point. A spectacular sight indeed!

Animal Tracks in a Winter Wonderland

Snowmobiling in Yellowstone is an adventure everyone should try at least once. It's cold but exhilarating! If you go, be sure to slow down and look for hidden wildlife... like the coyote hidden in a hole in the snow. And if you have to ride by a herd of Bison, be careful!

Bison on the run

While you're unlikely to see bear while snowmobiling in Yellowstone, you will see Bison and the ride itself is quite thrilling!

Firehole River

The Firehole River is a lifeline through the park. It's beautiful to see in the summer and the winter.

Grand Teton hike around Jenny Lake Loop

Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks are very close to each other. It was a great opportunity to hike the Jenny Lake loop and see some beautiful views of this awesome park.
