Treasure Lakes to Bishop Pass Trail

Cross-country trek in the Sierra Nevada. This was my first backpacking trip after breaking my foot. It was supposed to be a simple, 4th of July weekend... but, the cross-country portion was not described well in the blog I read and it was much harder than expected! Here's to great stories!

Treasure Lakes Trail
The trail was easy to follow for a while and then it just kind of disappeared. We took to following this outlet and boulder hopping to get to the actual lakes.

Treasure Lake
This was a beautiful basin to camp in and we were all alone. Our route the next day would take us over the saddle below Hurd Peak. In this picture, it's the "dip" on the ridge on the left side of the picture. The blog I read said, "locate the saddle and climb cross country over it..." Yeah.... it wasn't that easy!! It was hands over feet climbing sometimes and getting down the other side was no easier. It was an adventure though!

After a long and difficult hike/climb down from the saddle, we trekked cross country towards the Bishop Pass Trail. We found this lovely, off the beaten path camp site. We always carry and American flag and prayer flags when we backpack. Kinda gives a good vibe to camp.
